The school retains ownership of the rental device and families simply hand it back at the end of each year. Families can pay the rental up front or organise payment plans by contacting our Business Manager at the school. In 2024, the yearly rental fee will be $250. We will have a small number of laptops available for this purpose. The second option is to rent a device from the school. This involves families purchasing a device from a retailer and has the advantage that the family then owns the device into the future. The preferred option is for students to Bring Your Own Device (BYOD). There are two options for families in relation to this. All of our neighbouring schools have moved to laptop programs as they have also recognised the increased opportunities for learning that are offered. As a more visual and literal thinker and learner, I tend to approach tasks in a unique way that suits my way of thinking. Our aim is for all Year 7 students to have 24 x 7 access to a laptop computer so that they can benefit from the rich learning resources available online and develop the skills required for the 21 st Century. Currently, I work as a ICT Computer Assistant at Kelvin Grove State College & Macgregor State High School where I have been able to further develop my technical skills in the IT industry. We are pleased to announce that we will expand our school laptop program to all of Year 7 in 2024.
